Warm New Orleans Afternooon

Last week was mild in New York City. It was filled with overcast skies and warm rain.

A classic man in a Stetson hat offered me his umbrella on one of the rainy days. He said he couldn’t stand to watch my beautiful hair get wet. It was a fresh blow dry I had spent a good amount of time on the night before. He was sweet. I always appreciate a man who knows how much work goes into having voluminous hair. I did a half curtsy and said thank you to him as I scurried away to the courthouse with a file under my cape.

On Friday and Saturday, the city was under an icy winded veil. The temperatures dropped, and the rain was cold and scattered.

I was filled with a longing for the New Orleans heat I experienced this past summer.

The July day we arrived to New Orleans, it was scorching hot. The sun was shining, and the city seemed deserted. It was almost as if the shutters were melting off of the beautiful old buildings.

In the tradition of my “come walk with me” posts, with music and photos, your soundtrack song can be found below. Enjoy some of my sunny shots from New Orleans. May they warm your spirit, wherever you may be.

I feel the need, the need for that Louisiana heat.

Belongs to Gabriela Yareliz. You can see my glistening skin (from the sweat and near 100F degree weather). One simple rule: If someone offers you ice cream, always, ALWAYS accept.
